HOW WE APPROACH THE WORK

From surface preparation to the final coat

Interior painting can completely change the feel of a space, but the finished appearance depends heavily on what happens before the colour goes on. Marks, cracks, uneven filler and tired existing coatings often need attention first. G Munn & Son provides interior painting for homes and commercial spaces across its service areas.

Different rooms place different demands on decoration. A busy hallway may need a finish that is easier to maintain; a living room might call for a softer appearance; kitchens and other areas need choices suited to their conditions. Product suitability and ventilation should be considered when specifying paints.

We can help you think through walls, ceilings, timberwork and the order of work, whether you already know the exact colour or are deciding between finishes.

IN THE DETAIL

What goes into a good interior finish?

01

Prepare the surface

Assess cracks, previous filler, stains and loose coatings before choosing the appropriate preparation and primer.

02

Choose for the room

Consider sheen, washability, lighting and how the room is used when selecting wall and trim finishes.

03

Finish the details

Clean lines around sockets, ceilings, frames and skirting create a more complete end result.

BEFORE WORK BEGINS

From first enquiry to a clear plan.

  1. Identify rooms, current surfaces and any visible repairs.
  2. Agree paint and finish options, preparation and protection requirements.
  3. Discuss a sensible sequence for walls, ceilings and woodwork.

GOOD TO KNOW

Interior painting & decorating: questions answered

Clear answers before you start planning your decorating work.

Will painting cover cracks or damaged plaster?

Paint alone will not correct underlying damage. Preparation or repair may be needed first; ongoing moisture issues should be addressed at the source.

Can I choose my own paint colours?

Yes. If you have colours or products in mind, share them when discussing your quotation.

What about skirting boards and doors?

Woodwork and trims can form part of the decorating scope. Mention them when you enquire so they can be considered alongside the walls.
