HOW WE APPROACH THE WORK

Planning new build site decorating & finishing

New build decorating requires a clear brief and coordination with the wider construction programme. G Munn & Son welcomes enquiries about painting and finishing new residential properties and developments in Sutton Coldfield and the surrounding West Midlands service areas. Share the scale of the project early so capacity and suitability can be discussed.

New surfaces still need assessment and preparation. Plaster, joinery and previously coated components may each require a different approach, and the selected coating system should follow the substrate and product requirements. Surfaces must be ready for decorating before application begins; fresh plaster cannot be treated as though it were an already finished wall.

For a useful quotation, provide drawings or a room schedule, the decorating specification, proposed handover dates and details of site access. Identify which party supplies materials, what protection is required and how snagging will be managed. Any contractor documentation or site induction requirements should be shared before an instruction is agreed.

GOOD TO KNOW

New build site decorating & finishing: questions answered

Clear answers before you start planning your decorating work.

Can you quote from plans and a specification?

Plans and a clear surface schedule are a useful starting point. Site condition, access and readiness may also need reviewing before the scope is confirmed.

Can fresh plaster be painted immediately?

Plaster must be suitably dry and ready for the specified coating system. Follow the plaster and paint manufacturer requirements before decorating.

What site information should we send?

Include the development location, number of units or rooms, specification, target dates, material responsibilities and any induction or contractor documentation requirements.
